Gianfranco Frattini for Cassina, complete set of model 849 lounge chairs with footstools, Italy, 1956. Rare set comprising two walnut-framed lounge chairs and two matching footstools. The angular frames contrast with sculptural upholstered seats and curved armrests, newly upholstered in caramel velvet to complement the walnut’s warmth. Frames are in very good original condition with light wear; each piece retains the Cassina label. Awarded the Compasso d’Oro in 1956, this model is an icon of Italian mid-century design.
